Internships
Over the last eight months (May-December 2017), I have participated in two internships at KLAS, the local Las Vegas affiliate news station.
​
My first internship was for the lifestyle entertainment show "Las Vegas Now" with Celina Tuason, Courtney Perna, Mercedes Martinez, Kendall Tenney, Lindsey Simon, Kalia Pikes, J.C. Fernandez, Hailey Brooks, and Alex Wong. During the internship at KLAS, I greeted and escorted guests to set, wrote and found stories used on the show, and assisted with social media.

My second internship was for the Investigative Team with George Knapp, Ian Russel, and Vanessa Murphy. George Knapp is a highly respected journalist who has received an Edward R. Murrow Award, Peabody Award and over a dozen Emmy's. Interning for him and the rest of the I-Team was a once in a lifetime learning opportunity. During the internship, I helped out on a ten part opioid series for sweeps called, "#Our Pain: The Southern Nevada Opioid Crisis." I scheduled interviews, wrote web stories, performed interviews and wrote packages for my reel.

Hello and welcome to my broadcast news portfolio.
My name is Briona J. Haney and I am currently a senior at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas majoring in Journalism & Media Studies with a concentration in broadcast journalism. My expected graduation date is May, 2018.
This website features my academic and professional accomplishments. As well as, my professional broadcast reel and examples of my work in news reporting. The menu at the top will help you navigate my website and should allow easy access to all of my work. I have provided in-text links to my published works and earned certificates.
I have completed two professional internships at KLAS-TV Las Vegas's local CBS affiliate station. I produced a student run news cast at UNLV three days a week called Studio G, and I reported live from Spin Alley for Studio G during the Final Presidential Debate at UNLV.

Before attending college at UNLV, I spent four years working on television shows in Los Angeles as an actor, stand-in, photo-double, background actor and model.
​
Upon graduation, I intend to immediately start working in broadcast news while earning a certificate in meteorology.
